That is exactly what [ADAC](https://www.adac.de/verkehr/tanken-kraftstoff-antrieb/tipps-zum-tanken/falsch-getankt/), Germany's largest automobile club, names as a typical cause of misfuelling. In mixed fleets, a label often isn't enough: a case before the [Amtsgericht München (Munich Local Court)](https://www.justiz.bayern.de/gerichte-und-behoerden/amtsgerichte/muenchen/presse/2016/68.php) involved a renter who had put petrol in a diesel even though the fuel cap was red and said “Diesel” on it. Downtime and effort stay with the operator. Even if the customer is liable, the car is out of action, the on-call service has to be sent out, and the customer is annoyed. Does it hold up through lots of refuelling stops? Yes. The tab is made of robust, fabric-reinforced PVC and is attached with a 3M high-performance adhesive pad.
